Little Scotish Dwarfs are now free to play

Dwarfs has gone free to play. Can you digg it… yes you can.

I own the paid version of Dwarfs and have had many fun hours watching the little fellows do everything but what I have told them to do.

Now it seems that the vertically challenged little chaps have dug their way out of the boxed product and are now available to everybody, though there is some additional paid content for hardcore cave dwellers. …in game micro-transactions….. “nooooo!” I hear you cry. But hey! do you really think free to play is free?

Well actually yes it sort of is, …the developers have sort of been rather nice

The Free-2-Play version of Dwarfs!? You can download the game and play the core game in Arcade mode, plus all the Tutorials and the Challenge modes completely free, forever. No charges, no subscriptions – just free. If you like those modes and want more, you can either pick the modes that you feel like playing and buy those individually – or just buy the whole pack to unlock everything. You only need to pay for the expansion packs that are all reasonably priced at around 2.50 There are several pack to choose from.

Skirmish Pack for Dwarfs adds in the following 3 extra modes for you to play:

Sandbox – here is your chance to create your own caves and populate them with whatever bad guys you feel like!
Rush Mode – digger dwarfs will continuously spawn, without pause. And you can only let 200 of them die – just how long can you last in this mode> And how big will your score get!?
Dark Mode – if the standard Arcade mode is not enough of a challenge for you (or you just want life for your Dwarfs to be a little bit more scary) then play this mode. In this mode, the unexplored sections of the map are ALL dark – nothing is marked for you. Send your dwarfs forth to explore and collect gold and loot. Or die. Or both, of course!

The Difficulty Pack for Dwarfs!? If you are REAL Dwarfs-lover, then the Easy and Normal difficulty levels in the Arcade mode just won’t be enough for you. You will need more difficulty! So, this add-on is for you – it adds in the following extra difficulty levels (the 5, 15, 30 and 60 minute versions) for you to play in Arcade mode:
Hardcore – more enemies, they move faster – and so does the lava!
Tedi Hardcore – named for the coder half of Power of 2. Hardcore wasn’t hard enough for him, so he made it EVEN more difficult!

The Endless Mode Pack for Dwarfs!? This one is for all those Dwarfs-lovers who just don’t get enough time with their Dwarfs. If you have played the 5-minute game, the 15-minute game, the 30-minute game & the 60-minute game and still need more time – this is the pack for you. This will open up the Endless mode, which is, well… Endless. No time limits. Just play as long as you can! The challenge is no longer to see how big a score you can get in the time – it is just how big a score can you get!

The Summer Carnival,is a bit of simple fun, throwing axes at a bunch of goblins. What more can they say!? it’s also the cheapest DLC at just over a euro.

Base Defend Pack. Yes Dwarfs in towers? Well, this is the Dwarfish take on it. You create the maze for the enemies to follow, from up to four enemy spawn points. Then build towers to destroy the enemy minions as they attack through your maze. And the only limits are your maze and tower-building skills. No time limits. No wave limits. How long can you hold out… ?

The core game is always FREE! You buy the add-on packs once and can play them with no restrictions, for ever after!

The free to play version can be found here on the Steam store
